People's mood is not stable during a day or a week. From time to time we become happy or sad due to some external influence. For instance, if you get a pleasant compliment or get promoted you become blissfully happy. Otherwise, if you see that it is not your day and everything is not as you planned you're completely sad and disappointed. In some cases your mood doesn't depend on what's going on around you, and your spirits are in accordance with your internal processes. To be sad from time to time is normal. But if such moodiness becomes usual state of mind it's a true problem. A permanent state of low mood and aversion to activity that can influence people's behavior, ideas and physical well-being is called depression disorder. Depression disorder isn't just a whim of a person, it is a serious medical dysfunction. It is unlikely to clear up of its own accord, you will need to consult a physician and to use some medical products in order to overcome this dysfunction. The symptoms of depression are generally characterized as feelings of anxiety, hopelessness and worthlessness. From time to time depressed people even feel guilt and restlessness. It is also common for depressed people to lose interest to all sorts of activities, to become indifferent to what's going on around them. People suffering from depression even find it difficult to concentrate on what they are doing and to remember details. Energy loss, permanent feeling of tiredness and insomnia are also typical signs of depression disorder. The most common cure for depression is administration of antidepressant drugs. The activity of the majority of antidepressants is based on slowing down the elimination process of some chemical substances from brain. Such chemical substances are named neuromediators and they are essential for normal brain activity. Antidepressant drugs keep neuromediators in brain for longer period of time, and thus the state of mind of a person is becoming normalized. Antidepressants are generally taken during 4 to 6 months. But because of their active interaction with other drugs you should visit a physician before taking any antidepressants. |
